Mr. John Allen Russell, age 72, of 1358 Gravitt Road, Pilot Mountain, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County.

He was born January 14, 1935 in Sophia, NC to the late Glenn & Lonzetta Russell.

Mr. Russell was a veteran of the Korean War, a retired welder and a member of Gospel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Gospel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Doug Bennett, Brother Don Collins & Rev. Wallace Gibson with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Russell will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Full military rites will be conducted by VFW Post #2019 of Mount Airy & Post #9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Friday night, April 27, from 6-8 PM at Howell-Nelson Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.
