It is well known in my family that we have Cherokee ancestors. However, like many others we have not been able to find records of our Cherokee ancestors. I am researching this branch of my families history trying to find that connection. The Cherokee line runs in my mothers, fathers, mothers family branch. Her name was Polly Anne Young born March 22, 1868 in either Kentucky or Virginia it is believed. (A picture I have of her shows a strong Native American resemblance.) She died August 29, 1945. Polly Anne married a man named James Harrison Cannon who was born in the Sequachi River Valley, Tennessee, in 1854. He died November 27, 1928. Her father was Hezekiah K.Young born March 24, 1832. He died May 22,1925. He was married to Elizabeth (Bessie) Murphy. All of the above (There is no records of Bessie found) lived in Casey Co. KY at the time of their deaths. They had 6 children by the names of Letta, Eula Lee, Luma K., Polly Anne, Mamie, and Oda. Hezekiahs parents were named Calvin Young and Mahala J. Jones. (Her name was written as Mahaly on Hezekiahs death certificate.) Both from Virginia. No records have been found on them. This is where my trail ends. If anyone out there thinks they have any info. that might help my search I would love to hear from you. Thanks.
