Would appreciate any information or clues on the origins of Stokes NORMENT and Elizabeth STOKES who married in Perquimans 23 Aug 1756. John STEVENSON served as a bondsman for the marriage. Stokes NORMENT witnessed the marriage of Tho. STEVENSON and Mary BARCLIFT in Apr 1756 and witnessed a land conveyance by Joshua MAULDIN to Charles BLOUNT in 1761. I am trying to connect early NORMENTS in NC to NORMENT families in Virginia, so if anyone can help me determine the origins of Stokes NORMENT or his parents I would be most grateful. Any hint might help--I'm almost ready to resort to a Ouija Board.
