is my family tree of Archibald Reid (~1770 Cumberland Co NC-~1826 TN) family who left Moore Co NC for TN about 1824
he appears to be brother of David Reid b. 1767, on an Ancestor Chart in Moore Co library Historical Room, son of Mary Isabella McKay and Thomas MacDonald Reid. Two of his daughters married sons of William Dickinson/Dickenson of Moore Co NC US 1820 census.
Archd Reed is spelling of both 1800 & 1820 US census
In 1817 Wm Dickenson and Archie Reed and others were Moore Co NC Methodist church trustees:
on page 385 of a 1999 book by George W. Wilcox “A History of the House in the Horseshoe: [presumably, the obvious tight bend in Deep River] Her People, and Her Deep River Neighbors."
It list trustees of Methodist Episcopal Church from all over Moore Co. NC; so presumably this was a county-wide Methodist board.
“ ‘This indenture made 27 Oct 1817 between Frederick Siler in the county of Moore to John Oats, Charles Stewart, Archie Reed, William Dickenson and Cornelius Tyson, trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church.’
