John Henry Hubbard, 45, of Rt. 2, Huntersville, died Tuesday morning in a Charlotte hospital. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of John M. and Ida Dunlap Hubbard, and was a lifelong resident of the Gilead community. He was a farmer, and also worked for the Agricultural Soil Conservation Service in Charlotte. Mr. Hubbard was a deacon and treasurer of the Gilead ARP Church. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Mrs. Banks Beard of Asheville and Mrs. Polly Hood of Charlotte; three brothers, R. James Hubbard of the home, William T. Hubbard and Julian D. Hubbard, both of Charlotte; three nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Gilead ARP Church near Huntersville. The Rev. K. C. Seawright, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elders and deacons of the church will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The body will remain at Cavin Funeral Home in Huntersville until 1:30 p.m. today when it will be placed in the church to lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
