I am researching the STORY/STOREY, WRIGHT, FINCHER, GOINGS/GOINS and BAGWELL families of Pike Co. and Upson Co., GA., and Mecklenburg Co., NC.

Ruby Estelle Oliver married Otis Gartrell Story (spelling later changed to STOREY)(b. July 13,1881, Upson Co.,GA). Otis was the son of Enoch Wesley Story (b. June 1848, GA) and Nancy W. Goings/Goins? (b.abt. 1873,GA). Other children of Enoch Wesley and Nancy Goings Story were: John J. Story, b.Nov.1874; Mary Ann Story, b. Aug. 1878; Oscar E. Story, b.July 14, 1880,GA; and Emery C. Story, b.Aug. 1885.

Enoch Wesley Story was the son of Joseph Carson Story (b. 1817, Mecklenburg, NC). Joseph Carson married (1) Mary WRIGHT, Oct. 10, 1841 in Pike Co.,Ga. Their child was Susan Story, b.abt. 1845. He married (2) Elizabeth "Bettie" BAGWELL on Oct. 23,1846. Other children of Joseph Carson and Mary WRIGHT Story were: George Story, b.abt 1853; Mary Story and Sam Story (twins), b.abt 1856; Ely Story, b.abt 1860; Elizabeth "Bettie" Story, b. abt 1861; and Alice Story, b.abt 1862.

Joseph Carson Story was the son of David W. Story (b.1798 in NC) and Betsy T. "Biddy" FINCHER (b. 1800, NC), married Aug. 27, 1816 in Mechlenburg Co., NC. "Biddy" was the daughter of Joseph FINCHER (b.1780,Mecklenburg, NC) and his first wife (name unknown). Only other known child of David W. and "Biddy" FINCHER Story: Enoch M. Story, b. 1828, d. 1859,Ala.

David W. Story was the son of William Story (b. abt 1776, d. abt 1840) and Elizabeth /?/. David W. was a Private in the Mecklenburg Militia 1814, 2nd Reg.

William Story and Elizabeth /?/ were married in Mecklenburg Co.,NC. Other children of William and Elizabeth were: Ester Story; Wiley Story; William (Jr) Story; Elizabeth Story. William and his family moved to Pike Co., GA. in the mid 1820's.

Their neighbor, Joseph FINCHER also moved to Pike Co., GA. around the same time. Joseph was now married for a second time to Mary Perry Horn. They married Feb. 5, 1822 in Mecklenburg Co., NC.

Information on any of the above would be appreciated. Thanks.

My husband's father is an descendant of William Story,Jr. and his mother is a descendant of James Story. both were supposed to be sons of William Story Sr. and Elizabeth, who were born about 1775/6 in Mecklenburg NC.

I found Elizabeth on the 1850 census of Pike Co. Ga living with Biddy(Her age was listed as 75.) and on the 1860 census of Pike Co. she was living with her daughter Elizabeth Carriker (Her age was listed as 90). I have not been able to find William Sr. anywhere.

I also can not find James anywhere until he gets married in GA. He married three times and had 16 children. He moved to Russell Co. AL in the mid 1830'. He is buried in Lee Co. AL.

I also found a William Story who was born abt 1750 and fought in the Rev War. I found him on the 1790 census but have found no connections to the known family.

I ran across a John M Story living next to Biddy Story in Pike Co. GA. He had a daughter named Biddy and a son named David. Does he fit into the family anywhere?
