That information is correct. I found a copy of the bond at Family Search. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11107-14702-33?....

Did you ever find out info about Henry Dillon and Susannah Gibbs. I found them in Logan, KY if you want more info.

Peter ARNEY 1772-1845

Peter Arney
Born: 1772 (Tryon County, North Carolina)
Died: 1845 (Overton County, Tennessee)

Lincoln County, North Carolina, Court of Pleas & Quarters, October 1787.

Peter Arney, 15, "orphaned" son of Jacob Arney, deceased, is hereby "bound out" to John Fullenwider.Fulenwider, to learn the trade of a Miller, until the age of 21.

It's unclear, if Peter Arney, remained with John Fullenwider/Fulenwider, until the age of 21 (1793).

Supposedly after this, Peter Arney, left North Carolina, and settled in the area of Wythe County, Virginia. Whereby he married Margaret (surname/maiden name, unknown), and began their family (i.e. had children).
Supposedly, Margaret Arney (b: 1793), Adam Arney (b: 1797), Henry Arney (b: 1799), & John Arney (b: 1802), were all born in Virginia.

Around 1799, Peter Arney moved to the "Cumberland area" between Kentucky & Tennessee. It's quite possible that his Wife and young children, remained in Virginia, while Peter Arney built them a home.

[Note: This Peter ARNEY is not the Peter Arney, who married Catherine Fox.]

My objective, is to hopefully find the surname/maiden name, of Margaret who married Peter, probably around 1792/1793.

Also, to possibly find proof, of their children's births, in Virginia.

Thank you, for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I appreciate it.

ANTHONY KELLER-1. He was born 1710 in Lettweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany. He died in 1783 at York, Pennsylvania, USA.

Upon arriving to America, every foreigner had to swear an Oath of Allegiance to the King of England, which was King George II when Anthony arrived.

Pennsylvania Foreign Oaths of Allegiance: Blockeley, Philadelphia Co., Penn.
Name: Anthony Keller,
Ship: LOYAL JUDITH
Captain: LOVELL PAINTER
Place: ROTTERDAM
Date: NOV. 25, 1740

IMMIGRANTS INTO PENNSYLVANIA: Volume 1 1740 SHIPS TO PENNSYLVANIA The Loyal Judith 1740 From Strassburger & Hinke's Pennsylvania German Pioneers, 1934, by the Pennsylvania German Society, Norristown, PA [List 78 A] A List of All the Mens Names and [ages] on board the Ship Loyal Judith, Capt. Lov[ell Paynter] [Qualified Nov. 25, 1740]
- Anthony Keller 30

Anthony married Anna Maria Barbara Schatto at Schlosskerche, Meisenheim, Rhineland-Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany, on 12 December 1730. Anthony Keller immigrated on 25 November 1740 to Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania on the ship LOYAL JUDITH, Captain Lowell Paynter, with his wife and 3 children. The ship sailed from Rotterdam and made a stop in Deal.

ANNA MARIA BARBARA SCHATTO was the daughter of Johann Nicklaus Schatto. She was born 1710 in Lettweiler, Pfalz, Germany. She died in Pennsylvania, USA.

She was the daughter of JOHANN NICKLAUS SCHATTO. He arrived 1739 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania aboard the LOYAL JUDITH. Edwd Paynter, Master. [Qualified Sept 3, 1739] “On 3 Sep 1739, a Frenchmen, Jan Nichol Chateau, living in or near the German Rhineland border between Germany and France, landed in Pennsylvania, port of Philadelphia, with his wife Maria and about 7 children, on the British ship LOYAL JUDITH, having left Europe from the port of Rotterdam. When they arrived at Philadelphia, he had to sign a Fidelity Oath, at which time his name, in this predominantly German company in which he arrived, was Anglicized (or German-Americanized) to Johann Nicholas Schatto. A year later, their daughter Anna Maria Barbara Chateau/Schatto Keller and son-in-law Anton (Anthony) Keller with their first three children, also chose the LOYAL JUDITH, which made frequent trips to and from Europe for many years. When Anton arrived and was processed in Philadelphia, 25 Nov 1740, he became ‟Anthony Keller‟. The connection between the parents and these children is a bit speculative, but available data suggests that Nicol Chateau and Maria Schat-to/Chateau of Lettweiler, Pfalz, Germany, were the parents of these children. The parents and children were probably born in France, possibly in Avignon, which did have a Protestant population. Mr. Erold C. Wiscombe, a descendant of Anna Barbara Chateau and Anthony Keller, comments that the children are linked as witnesses to each other‟s children.”
Source: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thorodin/familly-p/...

ANTHONY KELLER & ANNA MARIA BARBARA SCHATTO were married on 12 Dec 1730 in Schlosskerche, Meisenheim, Pfalz, Germany. They had 8 children.

2. i. JOHANN PETER KELLER was born on 30 Apr 1731 in Lettweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany. He married Barbara Felger in 1754 in Pennsylvania. He died about 1785 at Lincoln County, North Carolina, USA.

3. ii. ELIZA KATHERINA KELLER was born on 13 Mar 1735 in Lettweiler, Rhinel-and-Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany. She married Johann Peter Felger on 17 Apr 1759 in Pennsylvania. She died sometime after 1762 in North Carolina.

4. iii. JOHANN NIKOLAUS KELLER was born on 13 Mar 1735 in Lettweiler, Rhi-neland-Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany. He died in Jan 1802 at Lower Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania, USA. He married Mary in York, Pennsylvania.

5. iv. ANNA MARIA KELLER was born on 06 May 1743 in York, Pennsylvania. She married Philip Krafft at York, Pennsylvania. She died in 1788 at Rockingham, Virginia, USA. (Thank you to Rachel Kaye who pointed out an error that is now corrected!)

6. v. ANTHONY KELLER was born 1745 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He married Maria Elizabeth Koeller in 1769 at York, Pennsylvania. He died on 01 Jan 1817 in Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania.

7. vi. JOHANN MICHAEL KELLER was born on 13 Oct 1745 in York County, Penn-sylvania. He married Catherine Barbara Becker on 12 May 1767 at York, Pennsylva-nia. He died in Lincoln County, North Carolina, USA.

8. vii. She married Jo-hann Anthony Schatto in 1783 at Cumberland, Pennsylvania, USA. She died 1833 in Pennsylvania, USA.

7. JOHANN MICHAEL KELLER-2 (Anthony Keller-1) was born on 13 Oct 1745 in York County, Pennsylvania. He died in Lincoln County, North Carolina, USA (Source: York County, Pennsylvania Church Records, 1744-69: Jacob Lischy's Private Pastoral Record about Joh. Michael Keller).

He married CATHERINE BARBARA BECKER in May 1767 at Strayer's (Salem) Re-formed Church at York, Pennsylvania.

The first sign of the move to North Carolina appeared with a Deed of Sale from Michael Rudisel & his wife, Catharina, to JACOB BAKER dated 9 May 1770 for 400 acres of land, proved by Rob't Blackburn, Evidence thereto; Ord'd to be Reg'd. Tryon County Court 1769-1779, July term 1770.

Jacob Baker was Catherine Barbara Becker‟s brother. It is likely that these Baker's came to North Carolina from Pennsylvania with the Kellers. The next indication the move was imminent was a Deed of Sale from Andrew Hudock to MICHAEL KELLER dated 17 August 1771 for 150 acres of land, ack'd in Open Court. Ord'd to be Registered. Tryon County Court 1769-1779, Jan. term 1772. From C.R.X. 83.

According to the Lincoln County Pre-1800 Estates, on 16 August 1789, there was an account
of MICHEL KELLER against Bernnet Sigmon Sinr., for making two whiskey
casks. Claim dated 8 January 1791. Michael Keller apparently made whiskey casks,
and filed a claim, 8 Jan 1791, for payment in the estate settlement of Barnet Sigmon,
Sr., who died in 1790.
When Michael was 73 years of age, we have a record in the 1818 Lincoln County Tax
List, Capt Peter Little's District. The general area covered in the list is that of the River
Bend section located in present day Catawba County lying northeast of Lyles
Creek, north of the Island Ford, and east of the Oxford Ford of the Catawba River.
MICHAEL KELLER 315 acres on the catawb[a] R. 2 White Polls, 2 Black Polls, $750.
Catawba Cousins, vol 6 # 1 Jul 1991 pp 26-28.

We find Michael Keller in the following U.
I am trying to figure out How many John Webbs lived in Lincoln county and where or which rock they came from. A young Lady by the Name of Ann send me some court/land records, One of which says JOHN WEBB SR in 1823, and others records just show JOHN WEBB. These records all relates to land on BALLS CREEK area of Lincoln. The 1823 document is for sale of land, Would like to find out when John Sr purchased the land. John Webb (Jr?) born 1797 has been my roadblock for over 10 years.
Thanks

I am not aware of any. I did transcribe an 1897 Master Jury List from Lincoln County a number of years back, and I posted it on the Lincoln Genweb site,. If you are looking for a particular male name, you could check that.

Can you tell me in what order the names are listed on it, or is Joshua the only other name?

I have information on Joshua Spencer, but he lived in Burke County. He did marry two women from Lincoln County though. If you meant Joshua White; then no.
Trying to locate the Arney Plantation in Lincoln County North Carolina

I have been trying to track down, the "Arney Plantation", in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to little avail, so far.

The few records, I have found, only show Jacob Arney, purchasing 200 acres on the South Fork of the Catawba River, in 1772.

While Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. purchased several lots in Lincolnton, which leads me to believe that the "Arney Plantation" must have been near Lincolnton.

I still believe that both Jacob & Christian, Sr. were buried on the Arney Plantation.

Unfortunately, I don't know, in what direction the Arney Plantation was from Lincolnton.
If it was North or South, it could have been placed in a different County (Catawba/Gaston).
On the other hand, if it was East of Lincolnton, it could still have been in Lincoln County.

I do know, that there is an Arney street, that is East of Lincolnton, while still being in Lincolnton, called "Boger City". If the street was named after the Arney family, it's possible that the plantation was near there or could have been named after the lots that Christian, Sr. had purchased.

I "assume", that Christian, Sr. received the Arney Plantation, after his father's (Jacob) death.

I know that Christian, Sr., left his son, Christian, Jr., a choice of the Arney Plantation or lots in Lincolnton, from what I understand he took both.

I know that Christian, Jr., left his Widow & minor children, the plantation and lots in Lincolnton. After Christian, Jr.'s death, his Widow got to keep the plantation, but there was a lengthy, Court battle, in which his children's appointed guardian, was forced to make the children sell off several lots in Lincolnton, to pay their father's debts.

Matthew Wilson, son-in-law (husband of Julianna "Uly" Arney) of Christian, Sr. attempted to force Christian, Jr. to give him the Arney Plantation, due to debts owed, but failed.

Who received the Arney Plantation, after the death of Christian, Jr.'s Widow, I don't know?

Re: William Faron Cobb

I came across this today while researching my great-grandmother's maternal line. I knew that her mom had died when she was very young and she didn't know much about her mom, so am glad to have all this info at our fingertips now - just have to slog through lot's of stuff! It has taken me several years to finally find anything at all about her mom. I'm thankful that my sister's high school teacher made them do a family tree! Anyway, I found out that my great-grandmother (Ruby Cox Welge)was raised by her step-mother, as her own mother died when Ruby was just 3 years old. Her mother was Mary M. Cobb COX, also known as "Maggie", which is why it took me so long to locate anything about her. I found a picture of her tombstone on find-a-grave and it just has her name "Maggie Cobb Cox" and the years "1870" and "1890". I know she was born after the 1870 Federal Census as she wasn't listed yet. I also found thather parents were Whitfield COBB and Nancy Lavina (M.N. Unk.) COBB. I also found that Whitfield's father's name was William Cobb - the only thing is, some sites give his name as "William Leander Cobb", while others list it as "William Faron Cobb". Also, some sites list his wife as being 'Jane Reid",while others list her as "Jane Whitefield". Does anyone ahve 'proof' (such as census records, etc.) telling how they came about the names they give. I need to do more research when I have the time, but that is what i have found out so far. I just wish they had computers back when my great-grandmother was still alive. I know she always wondered about her biological mom - what she was like, etc. I'm sure her step-mom did the best she could raising them. I know the step-mother (Ettie Hendrix COX) had a hard life. she was already widowed twice at the time she met my great-great grandfather, plus she lost her son from her first marriage due to some accident when he was in his teens. Her second husband was killed in a train accident - crushed by the wheel when the pin he was removing caused his foot to get caught, pulling him under the wheel. The newspaper article says he lived for several hours (about 8) before finally sucumbing to his injuries. That had to be mighty hard for a young wife to have to witness, especially after having already lost one husband and her son just 2 years earlier. Old-timers who talk about the 'good old days' must have been 'real' lucky in their life experiences.

Hovis Family Reunion Photo Help

I'm trying to identify the persons in a photo. It's of a Hovis reunion that was held 23 Feb 1907 (date written by my grandmother on back of photo). I've identified my grandfather, Marcus Benjamin Hovis Sr. and his father Marcus Luther Hovis. I believe the man seated on the front row third from right is Marcus' father Moses S. Hovis. The copy I have is a copy with the stamp of Clyde C. Cornwell on the back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!…

Hi,

I'm trying to learn more about Sebastian Arney (1775-1810), who lived in Wythe County, VA

Sebastian Arney (1775-1810)
Married Anna Maria Phillippi (1776-1854)

Children:

Christian Arney (1792-1850), married Mary (surname/maiden name, unknown)
Molly Magdalena Arney (1796-1887)
Henry Arney (1797-1887), married Elizabeth "Betsey" Phillippi
John Jacob Arney (1800-1868), married Sarah Sallie Salome Litz
Peter Arney (1801-1891), married Catherine Fox (1796-1880)
David Arney (1803-1878), married Floranzia Cowden (1814-1889)
Maria "Mary" Arney (1803-1897)
Christiana Anne Arney (1807-1885), married John Tims Boyd (1805-1876)
Sally "Salome" Arney (1808-1842), married David Miller

Now, it has been "said", that Sebastian Arney was the son of Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. (1750-1834), who lived the majority of his life, in Lincoln County, North Carolina.
Yet, to date, I myself, haven't found any documentation proving this "theory".
In Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s Will, there is no mention of a Sebastian, even though, he mentions all his other children, including other children that "passed away" before Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. himself.

Any information, on this family (Sebastian Arney), would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I truly appreciate it.

Pinkney Admiral Arney (1838-1900)

In trying to learn more, about Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s parents, I'm praying that the "key" lies with some descendants of Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.

We know that Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr.'s, father was Jacob Arney, who left his Will dated in 1782, in Lincoln County, North Carolina.

We know the name of Jacob Arney's Wife, at the time of the writing of his Will, was Elizabeth.

Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., would have received most (if not all) of his father's (Jacob's) land, after his father passed.

Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., in turn, left his plantation and land to his son, Christian "Christy" Arney, Jr., but only if he wanted it (assuming that he kept the plantation, etc.).

The plantation would have been passed down to his (Christy, Jr.'s) Widow, and young children, only a few years later.

Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., was the oldest son of Jacob Arney, and he is the best chance, to find out more information about his parents (Jacob & Elizabeth).

It's believed that Jacob Arney's 1st Wife, was Anna Ursula Kron, and they had 4 "known" children:
Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr. (1750-1834)
Adam "Lawrence" Arney (1751-1802)
Johann Heinrich "Henry" Arney (1755-1830)
Anna Elisabeth Arney-Setser/Setzer (1861-1849)

After the death of Anna Ursula Kron (Arney), it's believed that Jacob Arney, moved to the area of Tryon County, NC

2nd Wife, Elizabeth (surname/maiden name, unconfirmed).
They had 3 additional children:
Peter Arney (1772-1845)
Catherine Arney-Edleman (1774-????)
Tobias Arney (1775-????)

If you are a descendant of Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., or you know of someone who is, please let me know.

[This Jacob Arney, was NOT the son of Frederick & Anna Maria Ernigh, who arrived in the USA, in 1732!!!]
I know he was married to Deliah Thornton (James Edward Shook - son) from there I believe he married a Judith Stillwell and lived in Texas and Mississippi. Problem is I can find no actualy records for proof. My gg grandmother (Nellie Shook - was a daughter of James Edward Shook) - Look at my family tree under "Walker". Nellie married a James Walker (my grandmother was Bertha Walker)

Yes, I have had some DNA work done, but am certainly no expert on the subject. I do match well with several known descendants of Arthur Patterson. I come from a DNA haplogroup that is not a standard "European" line; it is the E3B, or derivative of the E3B. This haplogroup shows its geographic origins to have been in the ancient province of Thrace (modern-day Bosnia). There are several theories as to how this Thracian line would occur in later generations of Scots-Irishmen; one refers to the presence of Thracian mercenaries serving under Roman legions in Britain. Haplogroup mapping shows clusters of E3B lines still occuring in Britain, mostly centered in areas where the Thracian cohorts were quartered. The Thracian mercenaries could retire in Roman Britain with full Roman citizenship, and excavated bronze placques show that some did.
