In or before 1820, a group of people, some Germans, headed over the Appalachain Mountains between North Carolina and Tennessee. This migration originated in Lincoln, Gaston and Chester Counties and ended with the forming of St Paul Evang. Lutheran Church in Monroe Co., TN. Among these folks was a 19/20 year old James Gaston his wife and her family the Sheets. His mother Isabel Bigham/Gaston at some point in time had lost her husband, also named James and remarried to David Shields. Looking for ANY information concerning the Gaston line mentioned here.
