Free DNA test

John H Morris was born in NC in 1818 according to a census report. He married Jane Coggin or Coggins in the early 1840's in Chatham co NC in the Gulf NC area near the Moore co NC county line but is now Lee co NC. They were in Chatham co NC in the 1850 NC census and in Moore co NC just across the county line in the Pockey NC area which was Moore co NC at the time but is now Lee co NC. they were back in Chatham co NC in the 1870 and the 1880 NC census. I do not know which county he was born in. I am trying to find a direct male descendant of John H Morris through one of his sons for a DNA test which i will apy for which should show which Morris line he was from. I have spent years trying to find who his parents were. The DNA test is very simple. A direct male descendant is a male descendant of a son of John H MOrris and his son and his son and his son etc. That means his last name would be Morris. John H Morris and Jane Coggins had sons Daniel Morris born about 1846 and Henry Morris born about 1847 and John Morris born about 1852-1856 and Matthew Franklin or Franklin Matthew Morris (my ancestor) born about 1858. John H Morris died in 1908 in the area of Moore co NC that became Lee co NC or in Lee co NC since Lee co NC was formed in 1908. If anyone descends from one of the sons of John H Morris please contact me at rsmith6670@msn.com I have a lot of information about the Morris family and I will furnish any and all information about the Morris family and the results of the DNa test. Maybe someone knows fo a cousin that descends from one of the son so John H Morris. thanks, Ross

Hi, yes, this Church was created back in the 1800's before the town of Broadway was started in 1870. This Church (the way a crow flies) is not far from the Cape Fear River at all. Most of the original settlers were close to the river or not far. As time went on, they moved further out toward Broadway. The Church was no longer used after the members built a new Church in the town of Broadway and named it Broadway United Methodist Church. This took place in the early 1900's, maybe 1908?? It is late, cannot remember but can verify later, but my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother Baldwin Henderson Jones and Elizabeth Sarah Ann Ragland Jones are buried there (1902 and 1908)Again, guessing at the dates right now along with a son, Robert Henderson Jones. There are others buried there, Rossers, that were kin to my Jones family and there is a separate grave site across the dirt road and it is the Knight family. I am sorry, I do not have any info on your ancestor but MOST of all the Thomas family are buried at Broadway Cemetery because, originally it was the Thomas Cemetery, or at least that is what I have been told all these years. Email me directly, and maybe I can help you out, I have some books and other resources here that I can look and see. What is your name? or at least a first name, is it Daffy? just email me at charlottejonesharrington@yahoo.com and I will see what i can find. I dont check these message boards often....Also, my great great grandmother was Rebecca jane Hinesley! I noticed you were looking for them as well :) Blessings, Charlotte

Charlotte; Thank you for your quick reply. I am looking for a Lonnie Thomas, son of Henderson Bennett Thomas. His dates are supposed to be 2/20/1889 - 1906. I don't understand why he is where he is, all alone, when the majority of the Thomas family is either in Baptist Chapel or Broadway Town Cemetery. Am I to understand that this is a defunct church and cemetery? Do you know what happened to cause its demise?

Hello, I am Mary Brown Croson's Grandaughter. My Mother is Mary Jo named after her Mother and Father. Mary and Joseph. When I was young we would go to Gramma's when Uncle Ken and Aunt Ava came to Orlando. I was looking up information on my Aunt Betty's husband (she is Ken's baby sister) when I found this link. If you would like more information my e-mail is Heaver37@aolcom. And my Mother Mary Jo would be a fantastic geneologist if she would acsess the computer! Thank you, Heather McIntire 2916 Junction Rd. You might try contacting them about newspapers that were in publication in or around Lee County in 1908.

Jim Gilmer

Hello,
I was about to respond to Phyllis with the information I have about a Riley Judd of Moore County, NC. only to discover you've already detailed some of his history using a copy of William Judd's will (signed 3/31/1838) that I too possess! My great, great, great grandmother was Harriet Judd, a sister of Henderson Judd. FYI, William Judd was married to Elizabeth Solomon, daughter of William Solomon (b1751?) of Franklin County, NC. William Solomon served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting on May 21, 1781. He was a private in Sharp's company. That means all of Henderson's progeny have a revolutionary war ancestor.

I have a copy of the "History of the Kelly's, Descendants of Abner Kelly", a non-published record compiled by family members. As I have read elsewhere, it states that Abner and his wife (possible maiden name of 'Gunter') passed away at sea of yellow fever. I would like to find out what part of Ireland they came from and any other information about them that would be helpful to myself and other family members interested in tracing our familys history back further.

Thank you,

John
(grandson of Roland J Kelly, descendant of Abner Baxter Kelly)
