Hello George,

Great that you'll be able to visit Johnston Cnty, our ancestral homeland. Jesse is my GGGG Grandfather. Sorry I don't have any info on burial. My database says he died in Johnston Co. near the Wayne co. line.

I'm descended through Jacob's younger brother Wiley, who moved to Henry Co., TN about 1832-1836, and Wiley's son, Dr. Rufus Wiley Peacock.

By the way, I've been inquiring without success about the maiden name of Jesse's wife Elizabeth. I wonder if that's something that could be researched while you are there.

You might be interested that Dr. Rufus's obit says: "Rufus W. Peacock was born near Goldsboro, N.C. June 18 1827. His father was a planter in that section and his grandfather was aid-de-camp to Gen. Washington."

That grandfather could be on his mother's side, but most likely was our Jesse Peacock, according to family tradition. It would be neat to somehow prove the George Washington connection in the Rev. War. DAR has nothing on him.

If either of us finds anything more on Jesse or Elizabeth, let's let each other know.

Good luck on finding the gravesite, and do contact me when you get back. Thanks, Ray
