Does anyone know date of death (1898??) and where she is buried. Most of family is buried in Caney Fork, NC. Her father was Samuel Houston Coward and mother Matilda (Phillips) Coward. She was born abt 1851 per 1860, 1870 census. Married to Samuel M. Alexander. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Wanda

I have in my notes that she might have died February 7, 1895. Unfortunately, I don't have proof for that date. I believe her last child was born in 1889 (possibly 1890) and that all of her children were living with family as orphans in 1900, so she does appear to have died sometime between 1890-1900. I don't know where she is buried.

I descend from David Carson born c1760 PA and wife Catherine of Buncombe/Haywood (Jackson, Caney Fork) NC through son Samuel Carson who married Nancy Queen. Another son, Matthew Carson born c1792-94 married second wife Elizabeth Betsy Coward in 1828.

Is that your Coward line?

I visited Caney Fork last year trying to find graves for Samuel and Nancy. She died 1880 Caney Fork. He died between 1856-1869 (they are missing in 1860...had moved to TX and moved back to NC c1857).

Elizabeth "Betsy" Coward, who married Matthew Carson was a sister to my GGgrandfather Nathan Coward. I don't have very much information about Matthew/Elizabeth, although I have some information on the families of many of Elizabeth's siblings.
