I am looking for information on a man whose last name is Popperwill, and who may have shipwrecked off the coast of NC, 1700-1800's. According to living relatives, he swam to shore and later married an Indian woman. Are there any records of shipwrecks off the NC coast during this period of time. I believed the surname of Popperwill is of British decent. I was told it was Irish. Does anyone have any information on this?????????Thanks!!!!!
