JOHN WHITAKER was father of PEGGY WHITAKER, who married JAMES JOSEY. Their son ROBERT JOSEY m. MARY PITMAN, daughter of SAMUEL PITMAN.ROBERT and MARY were the parents of JAMES WILLIAM JOSEY,b. 1796. ALL of the above lived in HALIFAX,NC.
JAMES JOSEY's will was probated in 1787. ROBERT and MARY PITMAN JOSEY seem to have died before 1810. PEGGY WHITAKER JOSEY is said to have died in 1835 at nearly 90.JAMES WILLIAM JOSEY went to GA, then Butler Co., AL by 1830.
I would appreciate any info on any of these folks.

I am a descendent of Sarah Josey of Halifax County NC who married Elisha Williams in 1775. I would very much be interested in obtaining a copy of James Josey's Will to determine is there is any mention of Sarah in it, and in general learning more about the Josey family of Halifax County, NC.

I am interested in the Whitaker family members who moved to establish Whitaker's Bluff, now known as Flatwoods, TN. Your surname is of interest to me as I am researching all spellings of the name "Beaty/Beatty/Beatie/Beattey" where my Beaty relatives lived on "Whitaker's Bluff".
