I need help!!!

Looking for any information on James Powell from Edgecombe County, NC before 1800. He bought land in Halifax County NC from William Bynum Jr on October 2, 1800 (149 acres).

Curious if he had a daughter named Elizabeth? I can find that children named James, David or Daniel, Ascension?, and Penelope(married to William Adkins(Atkins) all sell their land that fell upon them from their deceased father James Powell. It seems that they all got 1/6th of the orginal 149 acres.

ANy help at all would be greatly appreciated. I am not a Powell, but I am hoping to solve a very old mystery in my Family Tree.

In Halifax County in 1806, Mitchell Sory (my ancestor)and wife Elizabeth ???? sell a tract of land to Sarah Powell(which she sells to John Waller in 1810) that is 1/6th of 149 acres. (The land descriptions are exactly the same as the above Powell children and the original land deed between William Bynum Jr. and James Powell. I cannot find a deed where Mitchell and Elizabeth Sory bought this land, so I am hoping to prove Elizabeth to be a Powell. I cannot find a will or any estate records for James Powell.Any information on Powell's from Edgecombe or Halifax NC that might help me find more information on James Powell would be so greatly appreciated.
