Folks, I have done a lot of study on the Browns in Halifax from roughly 1810 through 1840 or so and am in need of more. There were Brown families of Greensville Co Virginia who moved to Halifax NC in the teens and 20's, also apparently one or more from Brunswick Co VA. In particular, loose records in Halifax claim that an 1850's or later Robert Brown was descended from "Sterling and Fielding Brown" who are associated with the Rose family of Virginia. It is true that Fielding Brown of Sussex and his brother James were sons of Rebecca Rose Brown, wife of John Brown, and were named in the will of Richard Rose their grandfather. But I have been unsuccessful in associating the Sterling Brown of Halifax c.1830 with these. Said Sterling moves on to Wilcox Co. Alabama, and is married into the Bobbitt family from Halifax NC area.
