If you have access to ancestry trees, my friend's tree entry for Guilford Dudley Story is here.

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/22599297/person/1266890023

and you can move upwards or downwards to see what we have on his relatives.

I have text notes not shown there regarding some of the people in this part of the tree, such as his father, usually giving information others have gleaned, or source text. Nothing significant on GDS, himself, though. I haven't verified any of that info in any event. If you need such info, contact me directly at lojbab at lojban.org

I believe Andrew Wilson B abt 1750 died abt 1827 in Wilson Co Tn. may be my 5th g grandfather. He married Margaret Robertson, they had a daughter Mary M. who married Spencer Smith in Spartanburg, SC abt 1797, they left SC for Caldwell Co Ky. between 1806 and 1810, my line comes down from their 1st son Peter b 1806 in SC. Our family is pretty well documented from their move to Ky until Present, with many cousins looking for actual documentation on Spencer and Mary's parents. Any info you might be able to supply would be greatly appreciated. contact me at smittyanddonna@sbcglobal.net thank you

Lonnie Daniel Smith III

Yes, the obituary was found through GenealogyBank. I have remote access through my local library which has a subscription. I found out at a local genealogy seminar that the local library offered remote access to several genealogy databases. You might want to check your library to see what databases they have available.

I wonder if we might be researching the same family, but with different spellings of the surname. I've traced my Dennis line back to William Dennis who died in Guilford County in 1791. His children were William, Daniel, Leah, Levinah, Sarah, Rachel and Elizabeth. In the Guilford County land abstract records, William's widow Mary was listed as both Dennis and Denny. It appears the spellings Dennis, Denny and Denney were used interchangably.
Hello

I would like to know if anyone could lookup a death certificate for me of my cousins grandmother.

I know that familysearch.org has the death certificates up to 1994 online but I would like to find out the information from the certificate of October 13 1998 on Virginia Carrie (Warren) Clyburn.

I would like to know her maiden name, place of birth, and parents names.

Also, If I was to call the clerks office would they give me this information or would I need to pay for the certificate. I understand its $10 for a certified copy and then $1.00 for an uncertified copy.

I would like any information please. it would be great if some lived in north Carolina that can help me

I just found out that Family Tree DNA is offering a special on their 12 marker Y-chromosome DNA for $39!
If there is any Coltrane male who would like to do this, I would really appreciate it. As the administrator of the Coltrane/Coltrane/Coltrin project, such an addition always is helpful. Right now I have only 3 men from David Coltrane of Rowan County, 3 men from James Coltrain of Martin County and 6 men from my family (John Coltrain of Wareham, MA). Any addition improves the quality of the research. This test typically is much more expensive. Let me know if you are interested.

I know that lots of people say that John Coltrain was b. in 1738 on the Atlantic Ocean, but there is no proof of this statement.
My research is based on documented evidence. You can find the banns for John Coltrain and his wife Rebecca Muxsom published 12 Nov 1762 in the Wareham Marriages and Intentions from Town Books 1 and 2. (On the web). Rebecca, the oldest child of Edmund Muxsom and Abigail Ellis was baptized at the First Church of Wareham 10 Oct 1742 (transcription by Leonard H Smith). These transcriptions are found in my library: Denver Public Library.
I will answer your other questions off line.

Dave - are you still researching the Kennedy families in NC? If so, I have a question about a family that appears to track back to Isaiah Kenneday, Davidson Co NC, born about 1826. My family name has been variously mispelled to the point it is often misrecognized. There is also an Albert Kindly, Kenerly, Kennedy that appears to go back to Davidson Co NC in the 1840's that I was wondered if you had ever seen in records.
Thanks
D.
Book: Frazier Folks & Related Families by: Hilda A. Barnette, Larry Beeson, & Ola Johnson == publ: 1988 Gregath Company - Mid-West Division - Box 471 - Wyandotte, OK 74370 and if I remember right, I bought my book from Hilda.
~~~~ I looked in the index == "NO" -- James Frazer, listed; James Hubard Frazier or James H. Frazier == pg: 169, 170,210, 247, 175. It looks like the same person. That line is Smith Frazier b: 1801 Stokes Co., NC, son of Sowell and Temperance (Hester) Frazier. Smith Frazier and Faithy (Hester) Frazier's, dau: Faitha Frazier, b: 7 Jun 1840 Stokes Co., NC, md her first cousin, JAMES HUBARD FRAZIER, 4 July 181861. He was b: 23 Mar 1841 near Walkertown, NC, the son of Bennett Franklin Frazier and Sarah (Mecum) Frazier. The record shows their death dates in NC and children.
I would think that maybe your James Frazier is some how related to all of these people, more research is needed as there are so many Fraziers, and a big inter-md in so many of these families. Most likely many records are missing. I would believe that they are related because of so many of the later generations ended up in Ray County, MO. Those early movements of families, sure moved together. Have you checked in with the Ray Co., MO. genealogy society, very good records there. I would also check out records in Walkertown, NC. This book list some Walkers, see another place to research.
You might find it easier to locate the cemetery by checking the various Cemetery databases online. I advise you to start here and doing a search for the name in the cemeteries:
http://ncgenweb.us/nc/guilford/
There are also Cemetery listings at the following 2 websites, which are both searchable or browsable:
http://cemeterycensus.com/nc/guil/index.htm
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&...
There are a couple of Boards that have Obituaries which might be of assistance to you. Some of them are posted obits and others do lookups, they are both searchable.
These are on Rootsweb:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.obits2/mb.ashx
http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.obits/mb.ashx
Good Luck,
Deloris Williams
I have a Alvin Aiken McLean father of Charles Fleming married to Nellie king daughter of George king whose mother was Elizabeth king. For some reason my line of kings surnames kept changing
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to let you all know that there is a new site for Guilford County, located at guilford.pasttracker.com/genealogy , and make a couple of requests.
I'm looking for the following for the site:
1) Your contributions, of course. Send them to me at pasttracker@gmail.com
2) People that would be willing to do look-ups.
3) If you know html or how to build a website and have knowledge of any of the counties (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nctttp/counties.html) up for adoption, please volunteer. I would like to see all of the counties adopted by the first of the year.
Warm regards,
Katy
I don't know if this is helpful or not, but in 1851 the heirs of Peter Brown (Randolph Co., NC) sold their father's land to Simpson Brown who then sold it to Abner Coltrane. Of course, there could certainly be more than one Abner Coltrane and I have not done any research on that surname.
I would really appreciate any information anyone may have on Peter F. Carter, born in Guilford County around 1805. Peter was a Blacksmith by trade, and married Mary Swiggatt in 1831. Peter moved to Lawrence/Maury County, Tennessee in the late 1830s. I believe his father was John Carter. I have found an old court record from Guilford County which indicates that John Carter was a "base born" child who was assigned to a Thomas Kasee as an apprentice blacksmith on Aug 19, 1782. Any information you could give me on either Peter or John Carter would be greatly appreciated!
