GREENSBORO — Mrs. Frances Norman Mabe, 72, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Mrs. Mabe's funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at Shining Light Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A Stokes County native, Mrs. Mabe was born on October 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Melvin and Cozie Tilley Norman.
She was an active member of Shining Light Baptist where she sang in the choir, and was retired from Sears, Roebuck catalog order center. She enjoyed traveling and time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On March 15, 1956 she married Harry Johnson Mabe.
Surviving are her husband of fifty six years, Harry J. Mabe of the home, children Randy Mabe and his wife, Elizabeth, of Brown Summit, Jo Anne McDaniel and her husband, David, of Greensboro, Toni Mabe of Brown Summit, and Harry Lee Mabe of Greensboro; brothers Larry Norman (Faye), Jerry Norman (Joan), and Leroy Norman (Mary Jane) all of Reidsville, sister Ruth Butler (Bill) and sister-in-law Mary Norman all of Stokesdale; four grandchildren Chuck Davis (Faith) of Reidsville, Jennifer Gosler (Tanner) of Cornelius, Brittany Senior (Brian) of Brown Summit, and Ashley 'Cassie' Forehand (Frank) of Stokesdale; and four great grandchildren Gabriel Davis, Caleb Davis, Frank Benjamin Forehand, IV, and Ephraim Gosler.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Norman, and a sister, Myoka Norman White.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening, Monday, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel, 8320 US Highway 158 West in Stokesdale.
