ROBERT L. WOODARD (B. 1867) married MAGGIE L. PACE (B.1873) in Rowan Cnty, NC. Maggie was the daughter of JOHN FLETCHER PACE (1844-1901) and MARY L. WOODSON PACE (D.1873) of Salisbury (Rowan), NC. ROBERT & MAGGIE WOODARD lived in Guilford Cnty, Greensboro, and had the following children: Jennie (b. 1892); Marvin (b. 1898); Charley (b.1902); and Minnie (b. 1902). In the 1910 Guilford census, Gilmer, NC, also living with them was MYRTLE WOODARD, Robert's sister, b. 1888), and Maggie's grandmother, JULIA ANN REED PACE (1825-1911). MAGGIE may have been the mother of an older girl who married a Mr. DURRELL, an actor, and she died in Philadelphia around 1910; she too was on the stage. This daughter may or may not be the JENNIE WOODARD born in 1892. ROBERT L. WOODARD is buried in the Green Hill Cemetery of Greensboro, along with JULIA ANN REED PACE. However, MAGGIE WOODARD is not buried there, suggesting that at Robert's death, she may have moved or remarried.
MAGGIE WOODARD is related to me through her father, JOHN FLETCHER PACE, Police Chief of Salisbury, NC, at the time of his death in 1901. Maggie was the child of his first wife, who died in delivering Maggie. My line comes from his second wife, CLARA BELL WILSON PACE of Salisbury, Rowan Cnty. We are interested in locating information about MAGGIE and her children and grandchildren, plus anything they would know about JULIA ANN REED PACE, who raised MAGGIE in Salisbury and who lived with MAGGIE & ROBERT WOODARD in Guilford from about 1901 until her death in 1911. We believe that Maggie's son CHARLEY was named for the son of FLETCHER PACE and CLARA BELL WILSON PACE (CHARLES WAKEFIELD PACE, SR, my grandfather).
