"MARK and WILLIAM COTTRELL, minor orphans of THOMAS COTTRELL, deceased, being over 14 years old, chose THOMAS COTTRELL JR, as their guardian. THOMAS COTTRELL[Jr.] appointed guardian to ELIZABETH, SAMUEL, and MARY COTTRELL, minor orphans of THOMAS COTTRELL, deceased"
[The fact of a guardian being appointed suggests that their mother may be dead and that the orphans have some property to be inherited upon reaching age of majority, I think--bap]

This establishes that these are the children of THOMAS COTTRELL SR. (d.abt. 1795-6)

Nathan Reid 1833 Guilford Co.). Other children may be children of Mark Cottrell and his second wife (LUCY FREDERIC m. 1825 Person Co.):
