Jesse Franklin Murphy and Jesse Baker Murphy--please help!

Surnames: Murphy, Murphrey, Dixon
Hello there. I am researching my husband's family tree. His father died when he was very young and he has no knowledge about his paternal family. His grandfather was Jesse Franklin Murphy, born in 1914 in Greene County. The searches I have done for Jesse's father has given me the folowing family: which makes no sense to me whatsoever:

Jesse Baker Murphy--DOB 1/12/1845, DOD 1/13/1913. Mother was Henrietta Dixon.

How could Jesse Baker Murphy father a child that was born a year after his passing? I don't believe I have the right Murphy line. And, when I do searches through the LDS and the Ancestry Family Trees, they group this family to a Murphrey family line that ends with Captain John "Jack" Murphrey. I'd love to prove this is the right line because from what I've researched so far, they are fascinating people--but I can't prove anything past My husband's Grandfather Jesse Franklin Murphy. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me in pointing me in the right Murphy (Murphrey?) direction. :)
