Mr. William Marshall Smith, 92, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Clemmons Village II. He was born March 2, 1911, in Forsyth County to Henry S. and Martha E. Smith.

Mr. Smith attended First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem and was a 1926 graduate of Vienna High School and a 1929 graduate of Draughon Business College. He retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp. as office manager following 46 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Nell Joyner Smith on Oct. 30, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Nell S. (Wayne) Lewis and Carol S. Smith of Winston-Salem; a son, William M. (Abbie) Smith Jr. of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Kent Lewis of Winston-Salem and Debbie S. (Scott) Rosenschein of Charlotte; a stepgrandson, Clay (Crystal) Fowler of Monroe; a stepgreat-grandson, Austin Fowler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, by the Rev. Ricky Speas. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 25086, Winston-Salem, NC 27114. The family wishes to thank the staff of Clemmons Village II and Reynolda Park for all of the love and support shown to their father during the past six and a half years.
