CLEMMONS - Mr. Jack Eugene Shore of Clemmons died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Forsyth County to John Henry and Nora Bovender Shore.
He graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1958. He was president of the Student Body, the Monogram Club and the Key Club. Jack was captain of the football and basketball teams. He attended Boy's State and was a member of the All State Football Team. He attended Wake Forest University studying business and played defensive end on the football team. Jack was an avid member of the Masonic Lodge, as well as Shriners. He served as worthy grand patron of the Eastern Star. He was employed for 36 years as an agent for State Farm Insurance Co. Jack was a dedicated and proud husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Jones Shore; a daughter, Amanda Shore Wilkins; two sons, John Evan Shore and wife Erika and Jack Eugene Shore Jr and wife Jane; three grandchildren, Hannah L. Marie Freeman, Sarah Elizabeth Wilkins and Errette Lee Shore; a brother, William A. Shore; and two sisters, Gladys Grubbs and Juanita Dahmer.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 8200 Center Grove Baptist Church Road, Clemmons, NC 27012.
