I have tried to find who Nancy Morris listed in the 1850 Chatham co NC census was. The age for John H Morris in that census is wrong. He was born in 1818 I believe. I am going by memory but I think that is correcty. He died in 1908. Using those dates Nancy Morris would have been too young to have been the mother of John H Morris. I have done a lot of research and although they lived in Chatham co NC I believe they lived just across the Chatham co and Moore co line. I near the Chatham co NC line. they lived at one time in Gulf NC which is one the Chatham co and Moore co NC line. Rossbelieve John H Morris was from one of the Morris families that was from Moore co NC near the Chatham co NC line. There were a number of Morris families in that line. The border of Moore co NC was fa few miles north at one time from where it is now. They were living in that area I believe and that was Moore co NC and when the border of Moore co NC was moved south to the Little River the area a few miles north which had been Moore co NC became Chatham co NC. I believe that is the name of the river that is now the border between Chatham co and Moore co NC. Lee co NC was formed in I believe 1908 and part of that area became Lee co NC and that is why it is hard to figure out if John H Morris died in Moore co or Lee c o NC since he died in 1908 and that is the same year Lee co NC was formed. The death records are probably in Moore co NC since it would have taken a while for Lee co NC to get established as far as keeping records etc. Which Morris do you descend from? If you can think of any info that could help determine who the parents were of John H Morris born 1818 and died in 1908 please let me know. IF you descend from his son John Morris maybe you have communicated with possibly a cousin that might have that info. Ross
