Classification: Query
Surnames: Daniel, Daniels, Mann, Wynne, Tillett, Hassell, Gaskill, Scarborough
The following information came from Dare County. The envelope has a red $.02 stamp. The postmark is illegible. It was addressed to my great-aunt, Ella Wynne Tatem. I found the letter just recently while going through correspondence from the estate of my cousin, Polly T. Leary of Columbia. Written by Mittie Wynne Fagan, the date at the top is 1926.

"Dear Ella,

When I was at Roanoke Island summer before last, I copied some things from an old Bible at Cousin Willett Matt Tillett's, and I have copied them to-night and am sending them to you to look at when you've nothing else to do, and want to know who your folks are."

I quote exactly:

"Belcher Daniel, & wife Sarah (as far back as the old Bible gave any account.)

Spencer Daniel son of Belcher, and Sarah Daniel, was born March 15" 1784. Died Oct. 28" 1859. Married Dec. 6" 1807. He married Sophia Mann, the daughter of Thos. & Elizabeth Mann. Spencer Daniel has an iron fence, and a tomb at Wanchese, N.C.
