Susan Powell-Bullard

I am searching for information on my Bullard and Powell ancestors from Robeson County, NC or Columbus County, NC - Specifically William Bullard and his wife, Susan Powell-Bullard. They were married in 1837 in Robeson County. Their children were: Elseph, born in 1840 and an older brother, Elget. There may have been other children, but I am unaware of them.

As children and young adults, William and Susan may have lived in Columbus County.

I have an original document dated 1844, in which a number of people are selling land in Columbus County, NC to William Bullard and Charles Ivy Jr. The people selling land are: Gilbert Brumble, Rebecca Brumble, Thomas Powell, Nathan Boswell, Rosa Boswell, Ambrose Bullard, Robert Bullard, Restro (sp?) Bullard, Millis Bullard, Dicey Bullard and Zany Bullard.

I believe that the Bullards mentioned are all related in some way.

The document also mentions Thomas Powell Sr, and his wife Rachel. I am guessing that Thomas Powell Sr and Rachel are Susan Powell-Bullard's parents.

The last documentation I have of Susan Powell-Bullard is in the 1880 Robeson County census. She is living with her son Elseph and his family.

Thank you for your help.

I have done research on 5 generations of Bullards, going back to William and Susan in COlumbus and Robeson Counties.
I am showing a son Alva born in 1837 (wrong in several censuses) and an older brother and older sister Ann E. I believe both had prior marriages.

Hi,

I saw your 1999 post concerning Alva Bullard, and William and Susan Bullard. Alva is my gggrandfather. I am trying to nail down the right William Bullard, believing his wife's name was Cropp. Would appreciate anything you might have and I also have better information on Alva should you still need it. Alva was born in 1840.

Hi Karen,

I know your post was old but thought I would try anyway.

I am the ggggrandson of William Bullard, who I show being born in 1790 in Robeson County and being married to a Susan Cropp, not Powell, from Bladen County. Their sons included Elget, Elseph, Alva (my gggrandfather), and Anne E.

Would love to compare notes with you since I am stuck on William right now and trying to make sure I have the right one.
