Dave, I ran a quick search in Ancestry.com and got the following information for your great grandfather, Harvey Jasper FREEMAN:
Harvey Jasper FREEMAN,born 1872/3 in North Carolina [1900, 1910, 1930 CENSUS]; died 1937 in North Carolina [UNVERIFIED ANECDOTAL REPORT]; burial at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Swain Co., North Carolina [UNVERIFIED ANECDOTAL REPORT]. He married Catherine Morgan in 1891 [1900 CENSUS].
Their children were [possibly incomplete]:

2. Bertha C. Freeman, born Aug 19, 1897 in Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
3. Lonie Jefferson Freeman, born Aug 29, 1899 in Almond, Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
4. Vernon C. Freeman, born Nov 12, 1901 in Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
5. Lillie Modena Freeman, born Nov 20, 1903 in Brush Creek, Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
6. Bessie Ola Freeman, born Aug 16, 1908 in Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
7. Alfred Lee Freeman, born Aug 30, 1912 in Swain Co., NC [NC BIRTH INDEX].
Notes for Harvey Jasper Freeman:
1. RESIDENCE: The family seems to have lived in Nantahala, Swain Co., North Carolina as evidenced by census enumerations that placed them there in 1900, 1910, and 1930 [FOR SOME REASON, THE 1920 CENSUS DIDN'T "POP UP" FOR THIS SEARCH]. The following anecdotal information was posted on Ancestry.com by a public member:
“He lived in a one room log cabin in the Brush Creek (Grape Cove) section of Swain Co. In the early 1900s moved the family to Maple Springs Community where he built a two story home and raised his children. He and his wife Catherine are buried in the Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at the gap in the mountains where the road leads from Needmore across to Almond.”
If you already have this information, please excuse the duplication.
