Darlene,
I'm researching the FREEMAN Family of Cherokee Co., NC, and I wonder if your Riley FREEMAN is connected to Richard Henry FREEMAN [1855-1922], his brother, Elisha C. FREEMAN [1859-1922], or their sibling, Moses FREEMAN [1853-1912], all of whom were residents of CCNC. Their male siblings, Michael and Lazarus, enlisted in the Civil War and may have died during the war. The parents of these brothers were Hugh FREEMAN and Mahala BROOKS, who were enumerated in CCNC 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880.
Below is a transcription of the 1900 U.S. Federal Census enumeration for Valley Town, CCNC in which the family of your Riley FREEMAN was recorded.
Please contact me if you think we're working on the same FREEMAN Family line. I would love to get descendant information from you, and I can help you with information about FREEMAN ancestors your Riley FREEMAN connects with my FREEMAN line.
Jean
