I'm trying to locate information on the ancestors of Merrill (Merrel, Merril) P. (Purvis?) Beck of NC. In 1850 he was a 20 year old stonemason in Chatham Co., NC. In 1860 he was living in Chatham County, NC with his wife Martha Griffin and two daughters. I believe he enlisted in Co. A, 5th Reg.of the NC State Troops in the Civil War. In 1870 and 1880 he lived in Randolph Co., NC with his family.

Also I'm trying to find information on Merrill P. Beck's son, Joseph S. Beck (b. ca 1865), especially after he left Wyoming County, WV sometime after 1900. We believe that he migrated to Washington/Oregon. Information on another son, William W. Beck (b. ca. 1868), would be welcomed too.
