John Bumgarner Sr married Nancy , but not on 24 of June 1793. (That was the date of his son John Jr. and Catherine Ward's marriage according to Lincoln County NC marriage records.) Catherine (Cata) was the daughter of Charles Ward and Catherine Kale Ward. I have seen this date used as evidence that Nancy was a second wife, but this is not true. I am a descendant of John Sr.and John Jr.,who was listed as a deceased child, in his father's will. John Jr.and Catherine's children were all listed in their grandfather's will probated in Lincoln County NC in 1820 after he died in 1819. I am the descendant of John and Catherine's son, Charles Bumgarner, his son Hosea, his son Elbert,his son William, and my father William Jr..
