I see you responded to me a year ago and I never check back, I guess. I don't remember receiving an alert. Well, I was happy to find your discussion of Jacob today. I have recently been connected with a DNA circle that includes Elizabeth Heavner, daughter of Abraham, son of Johan Dietrich, so I am pretty convinced that Jacob was the son of one of Johan Dietrich's sons. The most likely seems to be J. Jacob, the first born of Abraham's, but his wife Barbara Shitle was really too old to have birthed Jacob in 1790 and several children after, if her birth year of 1744 is correct.

Alfred, was my great grandfather. His son, James Clarence Havnaer, who came west as a Baptist minister, was my grandfather. My father Calvin made several trips back to North Carolina to meet cousins in the 1960s.
