I have a C. H. & Celia Pearce, who were in Bertie County, NC for some time. They had at least 7 children, the eldest being born, including my GGGrandfather, Martin Van Buren Pearce/Pierce, was born in Bertie County on 25 Jan 1836. The youngest child was Mary Pearce, born in 1849, place unknown at this time. Martin and older brother William Thomas Pearce/Pierce (b 1833 Bertie Co., NC) ended up in Madison County, TN.
