Hello,
I'm looking for information on the family of John Campbell, son of Cornellius Campbell, of Bertie County, North Carolina.
John Campbell bought a 200 A. tract of land from George Bell some time after George Bell's father, Robert Bell died, in 1738 according to a deed dated 27 Dec 1758.
This tract of land was on the Cashie River, adj. Col Pollock, Major West (Robert West) and Sam's Branch.
I've been looking to see where that tract of land went, whom bought it from the Campbell's, but so far, haven't found it.
John Campbell's will, dated 19 April 1777, Feb Court 1781 (Bertie County Will Bk. C pg. 75 states that he left all of his property to his beneficiaries. Which were, to my understanding, his two son's John Campbell (Jr) and James Campbell. He also mentions certain tracts of land to go to his wife Martha and daughter Sarah Merideth. He also mentions his granchildren...John, Thomas, and some girls all were by the last name of Brownrigg. He also had two sisters, Mary and Elizabeth.
This 200 A tract of land as described above is what I am trying to find...
If you have any information on that tract of land, Who the Campbell's sold it to...or any deed's that mention the above tract, please let me know. As on that tract was a cemetery. To my understanding it may lie near Thunderbolt plantation.
Thank you kindly,
Terri Bell
