Classification: Query
Surnames: Hyman, Gibbs, O'Cain/Cain
I have about 1702 as a birthdate for Hugh H. Hyman. I copied Hyman notes from the Three Rivers Historical Society in SC.
According to these notes on the Hyman family, Hugh H. Hyman came from Gloucestershire, England. He died Jan. 15, 1757 in Bertie County, NC.
He was said to have arrived in North Carolina in the early 1700's. He witnessed several deeds including one in Chowan County on March 2, 1721/22. This deed is recorded in the court house in Edenton County, NC.
I have some information on these deeds if you need it..
Have you come across any Gibbs in your research of the Hymans?
The Hymans I am related to migrated to SC from NC between 1810 and 1820.
This would have been John Eaton Hyman, and Lawrence Hyman.
Was his wife's name Mary Ray? Was Ray her last name?
