STATE ROAD—Mrs. Mary Flossie Brooks Wood, age 92 of 228 Mountain Park Road, State Road, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin.
Mrs. Wood was born in Alleghany County on June 20, 1916 to the late Andrew Jackson and Ruthie Ella Crouse Brooks.
She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Wood, a daughter Ruth Wood, and two granddaughter; Patty Little and Janice Reynolds, five brothers; Charlie, Kemp, Sebert, Sam , Paul Brooks, two sisters; Zell Hodges Smith and Faye Sparks.
She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Reynolds and husband Oscar of Greensboro, Maxine Wood Reynolds of State Road, three sons; Bobby Eugene Wood and wife Linda of State Road, Harold Leff Wood and wife Kathy of Thurmond, Kelly C. Wood and wife Brenda of State Road. Grandchildren; Steven Reynolds, Darren Wood, Andy Reynolds, Sharon Dutko, and Beth Faircloth. Eight Great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will held Tuesday, 2 p.m., March 17, 2009 at Rocky Ford Baptist Church, by Rev. Mickey Brooks and Rev. Claude Lloyd. Interment will follow at Church Cemetery. The Wood Family will receive friends Monday evening 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 16, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to donors choice.
