Does anyone know if Ancestry.com has the New York State Census for 1875? I absolutely cannot find one, but I know it exists because I can find the family in it using FamilySearch.org. Is it true that Ancestry simply does not have that census? Or they have it, but I'm an idiot and can't find it?

Looking for information on a diner called Monahan's East Hill Diner, we think it was open in the 1950's and located on Main Street, Clarence, NY. I would like to know if Herbert Monahan or Frank Monahan owned the restaurant? What year it was in business? Really anything at all would be fantastic! Thanks in advance for any help
Kim

Here is some more information I have found that might help:

1. Dennis E. Kimball: was born June 8, 1939. I think he died in 2002 and lived out his life in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Stony Creek, N.Y. He married a Sylvia.

2. Richard Kimball: was born on May 8, 1937 in N.Y. He died on Oct. 16, 2010. His last residence was Bronx, Bronx, N.Y.

3. Jean Kimball: was born on Feb. 20, 1912 in N.Y. and she died on May 23, 1999. Her last residence was Brooklyn, Kings, N.Y.

4. In the 1925 census, a Joseph B. Kimball, age 23 yrs., born ca. 1902, was living in Queens, N.Y. He was the son of head of household, but for some reason, I can't find his parents' names in this census record.

5. There was a Joseph Kimball, born ca. 1904 in MA., living in Manhattan, Manhattan, N.Y., and was a boarder. His father was born in MA. and his mother was b. N.H.

6. A Joseph Kimball was born on Oct. 2, 1902 in N.Y. He died in July, 1978 at age 76 yrs. His last residence was Brooklyn, Kings, N.Y. ( I have a strong hunch that this is the father of Dennis E. Kimball, etc. That's all I have for the moment. Will keep on digging for more clues.
Jean

Hi,
Unfortunately, all of the parties are deceased. This is all of the information that I have to work with. One thing though...I saw census records on Familysearch.org and Ancestry.com and I saw the 1940 census record that stated that Joseph was 38 yrs. old and not 28 yrs. old, which would put his birth year as ca. 1902. Also, one census record just had the parents and children in the household. The other had Rose Terrone, age 50, b. Italy living with the family. The family did tell me that before living in Brooklyn, N.Y., the family went way back to the 1600's in Mass., and before that, in England. That's what I told. Thanks for your taking the time to help me, everyone!
Jean

Joseph Kimball and Angeline Bove of Corona, Queens and Brooklyn, N.Y.

I am searching for information concerning Joseph Kimball and his wife, Angeline ( " Jean " ) Bove, who were living in Corona, Queens, N.Y. in 1935 and in Brooklyn, Kings, N.Y. in 1940. According to thses census records, Joseph was born in N.Y. in ca. 1902 and Angeline was born in N.Y. in ca. 1912. Their children were: Joseph J. ( born ca. 1935 in N.Y. ), Richard A. ( born ca. 1937 in N.Y. ), and Dennis E. ( born ca. 1939 in N.Y. ). At both times, the family was living with Rose Terrone ( born ca. 1890-93 in Italy ). Angeline's parents were born in Italy. Joseph Kimball's family originated in Massachusetts.Rose immigrated to the United States from Italy in ca. 1909. Any information concerning this family and their family origins would be very much appreciated.
Jean Mayo

I saw his naturalization paperwork and on both the intention to naturalize and the petition for naturalization he claims he is unmarried. However, there is a marriage record for a Thomas Joseph Burlace and Mary McCole for April 5, 1931 in Manhattan. That is certificate # 7122 - you can send to NYC archives for a copy of that marriage certificate if you want to. It would give Mary's parents, etc.

Kasse is my great great grandfather. Allen Zegel, son of Minard, brother of Edward, is my grandfather. I never met him, he died when I was a baby. His wife though, my grandmother Pat Zegel (Patricia Powers), lived until a little while after I graduated high school. I know that the majority of the Zegels from my side of the family do not live in or around New York anymore. Most live in Florida, and some in the MidWest.

I see by reading the online family tree that you posted (the Mischelle Myers Family Tree) that you have already looked at the 1925 state census, as well as the 1930 and 1940 federal census schedules. You therefore know that this family group remained together through all those years, and also know that Thersa/Theresa/Tessie was a public school teacher. You might have stated that in your query and saved other a lot of time checking these facts. If Thersa were still alive she'd be 107. You say you're looking for her and her parents. Since you obviously can't expect to find them alive, what exactly are you trying to find?

Hi,

I checked your tree and it looks like you got the answer to your question. Here's some images for you though.

I'm glad you found her. I have the same issue, my family came from Sweden. I found my great great grandfather's immigration into Boston Harbor and then there is absolutely nothing. I have no idea what happened to him from there! Three of his three children also came over and I can't even find their immigration documents. I know for a fact at least one of them made it because I'm here! LOL The problem with the immigrants from Sweden is that their last names became butchered either during the immigration process or by themselves.

Well happy hunting!

John or William (or Roger?) CARROLL emigrated to US

I believe either one of the brothers, probably John (b 1898) or William (b 1908) emigrated to the US. 1911 they were living in Bermondsey, London. Father Roger Carroll, mother Mary. There was a third brother Roger (b 1900). It might have been him but he married Elizabeth Coakley in Bermondsey 1922. Any info much appreciated.

I wish I knew where she was. I dont see her anywhere (that I have found anyway) until 1900 and she had been married to my great grandfather for 10 years-ish by then. Even afterwards it's like her parents vanished off the earth

official records not required by state in the 1860's-in fact, not required until 1880's and even then it took yrs for some places to comply, so no, there is no central dispensary for this info. she may have been born in a town where a town clerk noted same-assuming someone reported it, as she would have been born at home, no doubt. if she was born catholic, or Lutheran or any religion encouraging baptism, church records may give her birth date , parents, godparents. where was she in 1865?

Hello, I'm from CT, and I'm trying to find birth information on my G-G Grandmother. Her name was Lillian Gould daughter of John Gould and Georgiana De Wolf in 1861 or 2. Know she was born in NY based on her obit, census, and the many pieces of info I HAVE found, but would like to get ahold of her Birth Record. I only know she was born in New York, but don't know the down or exact date. Would anyone be able to tell me where to look?

Thank you. I haven't gotten to the FHL yet to see the original. It is on my "things to do" list and it was only recently that I realized they might have it. I only had the number and for some reason was thinking I had to go to the Pres. church for the record.

Have you looked at the FHL films for your target's entry? Why edo you think there is something on the original that is not on the photo duplicates?

I am trying to locate a roster of people listed under the command of Capt Phelps. My 4th great grandfather Miles Hayden i believe served under him. Unfotunatly i think Miles was a middle or nickname. I found Shubel Symonds pension file under him who was the brother of mile's wife Belinda. Also i believe that Shubel may have introduced him to his sister and they were given a tract of land in Summerhill NY for services rendered. this is all speculation but i'm sure he was a soldier in the war of 1812 from a bio on mile's son Ephraim Hayden.

can anyone help?
