Trying to help a friend...where did the Orthodox Jews from Russia who were diamond cutters/dealers live during this time period? I know it was a close knit community...very little info on which to base search...no male names, only the mother's maiden name (Lena Feldman), child's first name (Jennie), and general birth month/year (May 1894) (if it was supplied correctly to subsequent generations)..have searched 1892 NY census and births to no avail. By 1900 mother was in St. Louis and remarried. Child doesn't appear on census until 1910 at age 16! Unsure if father died, if there was ever a 1st marriage, etc. Any help or hints is greatly appreciated! (also posted to NY County board)
