I am a descendant of the McNitt family. Now, I know there are several spellings for the McNitt name. I believe they originally came to the US from Ireland/ Scotland.Samuel McNitt b 12 June 1789/1792 location unknown to me. d 1882. served in the War of 1812, buried in Dugway Cem. east of Mexico, Oswego co., NY. From family records locations he lived was Utica, Oneida co., NY. Married to Mercy /Mary Amanda Watrous, she d. 5 Jan 1879. 7 children born to this union: Milton; Mortimer;Fredrick;Alemeda;Robert Liberty:
Carolitte;Ann.
Most of that family came to the mid=west to Kansas.
