My Drake clan begins with John Drake b 1595 in Devon, England came to Boston in 1616 and Fairfield, Ct in 1633. He came America with one or more sons and perhaps a brother (Thomas) who settled in NH. His son Samuel Drake was a born in Fairfield, married Anne Barlow there and relocated to NY where he was one of the original proprietors of Eastchester, Westchester Co. He was died there in 1686. His son, Samuel remained in Fairfield but other son's like John and Joseph also went to Eastchester. Joseph married Mary Shute and had Samuel b 1699 d 1774 who was an MD and married Fowler? and Guion. Their son Col Samuel Drake MD b 1730 in Westchester Co and d 1794 was Commander of the NY
Minutemen (militia) and held other esteemed positions. He married Mary Haight, Patience Gibbs and Rebecca? His son, Francis Drake lived in Ballston and was an attorney. He fought in the war of 1812 and married Elizabeth Schoonhoven from Waterford.

These Drakes are kin to the famous Drakes of Ashe of Devon England and is believed to be related to Sir Francis Drake.
