Simon Cronise died February 25, 1901 at his home in Rochester. Born in 1818, the son of late Henry Cronise who came from Frederick City, Maryland, in 1810. Born in 1818 in the old Cronise homestead in Arcadia, in house built by Henry Cronise in 1813 and which is still standing. [1901] Educated at Genesee Weslyn Seminary at Lima. Married Catherine Maria Fredenburgh, daughter of Martin Fredenburgh of Arcadia, formerly of Ghent, Columbia County, New York. Until 1886, with exception of short period in Rochester, they lived in the Cronise homestead, which was part of the original tract taken up by his grandfather, John Cronise, of Maryland, in 1802. At death of Mrs. Cronise in 1886 he moved to Rochester. Leaves one son Adelbert of Rochester; 2 brothers, John S., of Newark and Samuel of Lyons; 2 sisters, Mrs. Leggett of Newark and Mrs. Demming of Oswego.
