Today I stumbled upon another newspaper death notice for John Pinkerton, killed in a train accident 6 Jan 1876 near Shushan, Salem Township, Washington County, New York. This notice is from the Jan. 7, 1876 issue of the Troy Daily Times newspaper, Troy, New York, and is a bit more grisly.

I transcribed the article, since the image of the clipped article is fuzzy. I've turned the whole thing into a JPEG image, which is attached.

The article mentions "Baxtersville", which may be a typo, since the railroad report of his death mentions "Baxterville." Either way, I haven't been able to find it on any map near the time period of his death or a more recent map, The article indicates it was located about a mile "above" (north or northeast, I guess) Shushan.
