it is HENMAN. Yes, an odd spelling but consistent in much of the documentation.
My research gets done in fits and starts. Two years ago I did a lot of digging in the newspaper files on Ancestry. Initial research was from conversations with Linda's grandmother (Flora M. [Bennett] Free). That was augmented with a number of obit clippings she had, and the combination of Census (microfiche-before Ancestry) and trips to the Albany/Troy area of NY for cemetery research.
He is the son of Arthur Bennett and Caroline Penfield Bennett. When they died they were in Rensselaer but Caroline was born in Ballston Center (Saratoga Co) and the children were born in the Milton area or at least in Saratoga Co.
My info on Arthur has him born in Nassau, Rensselaer Co 21May, 1805. So far he has been a brick wall.
Penfield was much easier. Another researcher pointed me at a published Penfield genealogy (which came down to Flora Bennett's generation) and I have been able to work back up the line with a lot of primary documentation.
I periodically go back and rework down internet research to see if I can discover newly posted sources and follow siblings family lines forward to turn up both new information and try and find living relatives.
A number of factors has cut into my research in the last two years but I keep going for new looks at people. That is how I came across the various Bennett listings for Warren Co.
