I have found a few bits of information on a Henry and Nicholas
Timmerman ( often spelled
Simmerman) in
Rochester Township,
Ulster County. They were both signers of the Articles of Association and there are two records of births to Nicholas
Timmerman and Margaret
Sax in the Wawarsing Reformed
Dutch church records, Jacob, b 20 Oct 1771, bap 8 Nov 1771, and
Petrus, bap 14 Aug 1774. The Wawarsing church also has a birth of John
Timmerman, bap 9 Mar 1777, father, Henry
Timmerman, mother Elizabeth
Schultz. And another Wawarsing church record has the birth of Catrina
Timmerman, b 27 Dec 1801, father,
Hendrick Timmerman, mother Elizabeth
Kettle. A
Henrick Timmerman (Ancestry.com has
Simmerman) can be found in the 1800
Rochester Township census, apparently Nicholas and family had moved to
Greene Co. by then. Both spellings,
Simmerman and
Timmerman, were used in the various records. Does anyone believe they are related to this family or have more information on them.
Thanks, Richard
