I'm looking for information on a John Quimby, b ~1824 at ?, but living in T/Wawarsing, Ulster Co, NY in 1848.

The Ulster County Archives search has John, age 25, marrying Ruth Ann Frantz in Oct 1848 in Wawarsing, both from Wawarsing.

They also have John Quimby, age 23, marrying M Frantz Nov 1848. He's from Napanock (Napanoch), Ulster NY; she's from County Line (spans border of T/Warwarsing, Ulster & T/Mamakating, Sullivan).

Both marriages performed by Mr Newman.

Same marriage recorded 2 different ways?

Two John Quimbys marrying related Frantz women?

Did he marry Ruth in Oct 1848, then M in Nov 1848?

Death notice:
"1852 July 2--In Frantzdale [T/Wawarsing, Ulster, NY], the wife of John Quimby, and daughter of Joseph France, in her 28th year." The Whig Press, Middletown, New York
So, they stayed in area at least for those first few years.

So far, in the 1850 Census, I've found a John D Quimby, 26yo boat builder, in T/Mamakating, Sullivan NY (probably near the Delawere & Hudson Canal). He's with Harriet, though, so it's not this John.

Where did John come from and who are his parents?

What woman did he marry or did he marry both?

Did he have any children?

Thanks for your time.

Follow-up:

I happened to be at the Haviland Heidgerd Historical Collection room at the Elting Memorial Library in New Platz, NY when I mentioned John Quimby to the historian. It turns out that SHE was the Warwarsing vital records transcriber.

She thinks that the entries for the marriages refer to one wedding entered by two people or by the same Rev Newman who forgot that he had already entered it the month before. The historian would go with the Ruth Anne Frantz name (after her mother, Ruth Trap). She says that M. Frantz probably meant Miss Frantz.

Other info on John Quimby still unknown.
