Has any internet site scanned & archived copies of this Kingston, NY newspaper ? The Daily Freeman site goes back to ~2000, but I'm interested in much earlier records.

Thanks,
Don

Ancestry.com has the Kingston Daily Freeman available from 1914 through 1950 in their databases; here is the link http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=Newspaper&dbid=51...

I have access to old copies of the Freeman through Godfrey Library (paid subscription) If you are looking for something specific, I can do a search for you.

Basically, these papers are provided through NewspaperArchive.com, which you can join too. All these sites require a fee.

Hi Gretchen,

Looking for the parents of Rachel Martin (1873-1960). She had two siblings; William S (1859-1936) and Jenny. I did find an obituary for William S Martin in the Kingston Freeman (Oct 27, 1936), but no parents were given.

Marriages:
Rachel + Benton Decker in 1896
William + Katherine Messing in 1891
Jenny + John M Mayer ?

Hope the Kingston papers go back before 1914 in NewspaperArchives. Maybe a wedding or engagement announcement might give more names.

Thanks for help. If you want to e-mail article: DonGreen@aol.com.

I found the following attached document in the Kingston Daily Freeman. There were several hits for John M Mayer but I thought this one would be of great interest to you.
There was another John Mayer who Married a Katherine. So it will take some time to sort it all out.

I suggest you call your local family history center familysearch.org and ask if they have access to the ancestry site. I know they did several years ago. Also, my local library has a subscription to ancestry you might want to check out your local library.

I found some information for him in old copies of the Freeman and also some census records, so I think I answered his questions. I e-mailed him directly.

I saw the information regarding The Kingston Daily Freeman
newspaper. What I am trying to locate is an obituary for
Leslie Aller that d. 13 Feb 1989 in Albany,NY. I have
contacted the funeral home (E.B. Gormley Funeral Home) that
handled the arrangements. He said that he is buried in
Shandaken Rural Cemetery. He mentioned that the above
newspaper may have listed the obituary.
Thanking you in advance for any help on this.

The Daily Feeman that I'm seeing is only available through 1950.

I tried newspaperarchive.com and fultonhistory but couldn't find anything list there either.

Have you tried writing or e-mailing to a library in Albany? I have found some of the smaller librarys are pretty fast and usually only a few dollars.

Sorry, I couldn't be more help. Tammy
