Classification: Query
Surnames: Vanorder, Slater
I am first cousin, thrice-removed to George Vanorder's second wife, Gertrude C. Slater. 1880 Census, she is widow Gertie Weir, Parma, Jackson, MI, with daughter Frankie E. in her household. Her son, Guy Weir, is in the household of Gertrude's brother, Henry D. Slater, Sandstone, Jackson, MI.
There is an IGI at familysearch.org: George Van Order marries Gertie Weir, 11 Aug 1880, Springport, Jackson, MI.
1880 Census, Gertrude's stepfather, Jefferson Smith, is in La Moure Co, Dakota Territory (Grand Rapids, ND), so I would guess that is where George & Gertrude went.
1900 Census: Gertrude enumerates to four births, four still living; she only had two Weir children. There is an Edna Vanorder, b. Sep 1881, ND, that is a servant in a home in Cotton Wood, Umatilla, OR, that I am assuming is the d/o George & Gertrude, but I cannot locate their other child. In 1910, Gertrude still enumerates to four births, four still living. Can't find any of Gertrude's children
