During the 1860 and 1870 censuses, Peter Miller ( born ca. 1808 in N.Y. ) and his wife, Mahala ( b. Aug., 1819 in N.Y.), were living in Mamakating, N.Y., with their children: James ( born ca. 1840; the oldest ), Sarah, Alonzo, Jane, and William Miller. Peter and Mahala's parents were born in n.Y. In 1860, they lived in the postal area of Forestburg. In 1870, they were living in the postal area of Bloomingburg. I am searching for information concerning Peter and Mahala Miller, their parents, and their family origins. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I don't know of these people, but just last night I found an 1875 atlas of Sullivan County. It might help you find their home, if they were still in the area.
