In the matter of the appointment of a guardian for John G. Budd and Susan R. Budd, minors. Peition for letters of guardianship____Nov.2, 1848

To the Surrogate of Suffolk County:

The petition of John Budd of the Village of Sag Harbor, town of Southampton, Suffolk County and New York State
Respectfully__________
That the petitioner is the father of John G. Budd and Susan R. Budd, Minors, that said minors are residents of said Suffolk County and are under the age of fourteen years. That John G. Budd was ten years of age the 27th of November 1848 and Susan R. Budd was two years of age the 29th day of April 1848.
That Susan Budd the wife of your petitioner is the mother of said minors and Louisa Stewart and John M. Stewart are the uncle and aunt of said minors, all of whom reside in said county. That the personal property of the said John. G. does not exceed nineteen hundred dollars - and of Susan R. is about the value of ten hundred and fifty dollars as your petitioner is informed and verily believes and that neither of said infants is possessed of Real Estate and that to protect and preserve the legal rights of said minors it is necessary that ____ person be appointed guardian of their person and estate.

Your petitioner therefore prays that you will appoint him the guardian of the person and estate of said minors until they should arrive at the age of fourteen years and until another guardian shall be appointed and your petitioner will ever pray.
