I am looking for the grave marker for a Fred Hunt, 1873-1904. He is buried, supposedly, in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport. Does anyone know if there is a marker or where hs grave is located?

1. Go to familysearch.org
2. click "search" on tool bar
3. scroll down to browse by locations & select "United States"
4. on left, scroll down to find and select "new york"
5. screen will show all the collections that are digitalized for NY. Included are land & probate. Select the collection you want to search.

Some collections are indexed (for example, the state censuses). Others are not (for example, the probate & property records). With these you will start with the digitalized indexes. Well worth the trouble.

I don't know anything about the family, I'm afraid. I was just letting you know how maiden names are often indicated.

I did a quick look and found Ann Dano. The census records indicate her parents were born in Austria. I couldn't find a Julia Drinka or Julia Newfrock born in Austria.
I think you might be misinterpreting the phrase "Michael and Julia Drinka Newfrock"

Usually in such a listing Michael's last name was Newfrock and his wife Julia's maiden name was Drinka.

He was a fine woodworker and cabinet maker. His patients referred to him as “Painless Paul” and after retirement he became “Project Paul.”

He absolutely loved following college and professional football, especially Notre Dame and the Bills.
Doc’s community involvements include being a member and past President of the Dental Society of the NYS 7th District, past President of Saint Mary’s Parish Council, past President of the Corning Catholic School Board, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Keuka Lake Association.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, four daughters, Patricia (Judge David) Kahl of Corning, Dr. Maryann (Atty.
Hi Mike

Hmm not sure if the two Solomon's you mention are one and the same - do butcher's/farmers become shoemakers in later life?? I guess anything is possible, but I haven't been able to find any death notices or obits that are of help - even Cordelia's doesn't mention her husbands.

I thank you so very much for the large amount of good information.I new it was a shot in the dark but your information proves that this Lewis Drum was not related to a Cordelia Bronson Durgee Drum that died in 1904.Cordelia first married a lewis Durgee Sr. and then second a Solomon Drum which is where my problems begin.A Solomon Drum that married a Catherine Dings and died in 1863 and Solomon died around the same time frame in NY.Did he marry second Cordelia Durgee or did she marry a different Solomon Drum? They are both listed in the 1870 census! But she is a widow by 1880..............this is very confussing to me.

Regards,Mike

Thanks so much. This will give me a direction to look in to get started.

Very interesting that Relief was a Richmond. Sarah's oldest daughter, Josephine was adopted by Willit & Susan Wilson. Susan's maiden name was also Richmond, so there may end up being a connection there.

Once again, thanks for the info.

Sarah Mattison was born 1841 at Greenwood. When she was 14 she had a daughter, Josephine, by Jacob Snook. Sarah later married Charles T. Atwell and lived most her life at Andover, Allegany Co., NY.

Sarah's siblings were: Steven Mattison, Mrs. Steven Chapman, Mrs. Myra Chapman and Mrs.. Melissa Baker.

Sarah's known children were:
Mrs. Josephine (Wilson) Payne
Charles Wilson
Mrs. Effe Bice
Mrs. Nellie Payne

I am hoping to locate Sarah's parents, Jacob's parents and also whether Jacob & Sarah were actually married. He was the father of at least one of Sarah's children.

Hi Gary....I was on Ancestry trying to find out why my 3rd great-grandfather Reuben Hall is buried in the Drew Cemetery in Urbana, NY since I see no family connection to them, and I find your post regarding the Drew family. Your and my first connection came to light through my mother's family, the Foster's...and now Reuben Hall would be through my father's side. Just wanted to share!

Thanks for the info. Lovely picture attached. Can you tell me who the photo is of? My computer crashed and am in the process of getting Ancestry and my family research back on my new computer. When I do, I will see what information you sent contributes to my present knowledge. Thank you.

Seeking ANY information for :
John Gregory Marvin-Born: 1909
son of: Raymond James Marvin & Elizabeth C. Hofstetter.
There is also another John Gregory Marvin that lived in Allegany co NY-BUT-it is NOT MINE!
I cannot find anything on him after the April 11, 1940 census living with his widowed Mother and, brother, Lyle Francis Marvin in Arkport on Park Street -that is the last I have found ANYTHING about him. Can anyone help???
I would assume that as most of his family are buried in Arkport cemetery, that he would also be there but he is not listed in the cemetery burials on the web.
