Apparently there was a St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in SHaron NY. See below. The area was once called New Rhinebeck. Not sure what years they may have records for. or if they will be of any use to you. There are also other churches in this area. The fil number from the Family History Center is 185480. Or maybe you can call Montgomery County Dept of History and Archives to find out what time period the book covers.

Records of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Rhinebeck (Sharon, New York) : transcribed from original records by the Montgomery County Department of History and Archives
Author:	Montgomery County (New York).
I am looking for info on a Elmer Wagner(Other spellings)born 4 July 1880 Schoharie Co. I have him from 1900 up. At that time he is working for Jacob L. Moak in New Scotland, Albany Co. N.Y. He stays there and was treated as a son as Jacob never had children. He got the farm after Jacob died. In the 1892 census I find that Elmer was not with the Moak family yet.
He had a sister Mary and his mothers last name might be Borst. Would like to find parents and were in Schoharie Co. he was born.

I found quite a few Margaret Wells on familysearch.org. One is with her husband and son but many are census's with parents. I can't be sure which one is yours without more info like mother and fathers name, probable date of birth, place of birth etc. You can go on the site yourself free of charge and maybe you can figure out which one is the one you need.

William Joseph Davis (1786-1865) married Mary Ursula Sibley (1800-1872). They possibly came from the Schoharie area to settle in the Aylmer, Ontario, area in the early 1800s...possibly with his brothers. We believe his father's name may have been George R. Davis. Does anybody have any information connecting them to families in the Schoharie, New York, area?

I am looking for any information on Lawrence (surname) families living in Gilboa, NY during 1750-1850. I have a relation whose English given name was never made legible. It appears on only one or two records spelled as Mr. Jriajah (Lawrence). I believe this is either a misspelling or a interpretation of a foriegn name perhaps Jewish or Arabic.

Any families with the relevant surname could help me in my search. Jriajah resides in south gilboa where he married Cynthia Jones having a daughter Charlotte as soon as 1820. I cannot seem to find records of the marriage or births of the parents though the daughters censuses claim both parents were New York born. There were about 4-5 children total. Thank you for any help you can provide!!

I wish I had the answer for you but I did find that in the 1870 Fed Census a William J Roe lived next door to Polly and her family. Is it possible they were related? Also, in the 1880 Fed Census a David Roe was living next door to William Roe. They may have been related. If you can't find the info looking for Polly, maybe researching William and David might lead you there. Hope this helps at least a little.

Coincidentally, I am looking for info on the Chapman Family buried who are buried at Charleston Four Corners Cemetery. As this Chapman Family was large, I know of 4 family members buried there. (There may be more) They are:

Lionel C. Chapman b. July 16, 1809 died August 23, 1900
Mary Antoinette Chapman (wife of Lionel) b. Jan 9 1816 died Sept 30, 1879
Sheldon Chapman (son) b Dec 27, 1844 died June 2, 1845
Maria Antoinette Chapman (daughter) b Sept 26, 1852 died Oct 12, 1875

Lionel and Antoinette had 11 children. This Chapman Family was from Esperance, Schoharie and Oak Hill.

I am looking for photos of this family plot.
The latest census I found them on is the 1905 NY State Census for Middleburgh(name is misspelled as Cronix) page 26...
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=8940&pa...=

They do not appear on the 1910 Federal Census that I could find so may have passed away between 1905 and 1910 or were relocated elsewhere (see below). It may be that some inmates were buried without markers on the Almshouse property as they had some 160 acres according to Schoharie Poorhouse History... http://www.poorhousestory.com/SCHOHARIE.htm

The Almshouse burned in 1908... http://fultonhistory.com/Newspaper4/Amsterdam%20NY%20Daily%2...

so perhaps the Cronics were relocated if still living as all inmates were safely removed from the building. My guess is records may have burned in the fire, too.

There is a little blurb in this paper that may or may not be related to your Cronics... http://fultonhistory.com/Newpapers%20Disk2/Skaneateles%20NY%...

Since this article was published abt 6 months after the fire, it may be safe to assume your Cronics were relocated after the fire.

The Schoharie County clerk might be able to tell you where to find more info, might even have death records for Ann and Jeremiah. I don't know if they have brought them back from safekeeping yet; records were removed because of the flood in 2010.

I hope this helps you a bit. It helped me pass an afternoon on a cold winter day. I love a mystery especially in my home area of the country.

Thank you so very much for taking the effort and time to do a manual search; I greatly appreciate your being so kind.

The couple I was looking for are Ann and Jeremiah Cronic (lines 24-25); they are siblings who spent almost all their lives institutionalized. With the restrictions on accessing institutional records being so strict, I am still hoping one day to at least learn their complete birth/death dates and burial places.

Again, THANK YOU for your help to locate these siblings.

If you check this link it might help you. I did a manual search of 1880 Fed Census of Middleburgh and found this list of people who were inmates at the Alms House...
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=6742&pa...=
Not knowing what names you are looking for limited the search. Hope it helps. If not, let me know more info and I will see if I can find anything else.

Have been searching for a brother and sister in Schoharie County who are known to have been residents in the County Home or Poor House between the years 1865-1875 and 1905 (documented in these census) before appearing in the Rome State Custodial Asylum in Oneida County, New York in 1910.

They were from Middleburgh area.

They have not been found under various surname spellings in the 1880 Schoharie County databases at Ancestry and FamilySearch.

Was a census taken of the Schoharie County Home in 1880? If so, where might I find a copy either in print or online?

Any suggestions will be welcomed.
