I am looking for information on a Mary Vite Bradt b. 1918 who was married to a Charles L. Bradt and the daughter of Minnie Alger Vite ()d. 1965 and Simon J. Vite (d. 1974). My grandmother Lena Vite Moran (b. 1914) was the sister of Mary. My gmother was placed in foster homes, but her sister was not. I sure would like to solve this mystery! My grandmother had two other sisters as well: Mae and Christina. I only know the married name of Mary who was the youngest out of the four sisters. If you can help me locate descendents I would appreciate it so very much. Thanks!

Kathy,
Charles L Bradt was the brother to my husband, James M Bradt.
They lived in Schenectady.
My husband use to spend much time with Mary and Charles "Chuck". He said he never knew Mary had a sister.
James'(Jim) first wife Helen got Mary her first job in a meat packing company.
Jim knew Mary's parents. He said they lived to be in their 90's.
Mary and Charles had one son name Daniel. Daniel was born between 1937 and 1939. He was 4 or 5 years younger than Jim's nephew George who was born 1933.
After the death of Charles in 1966, Jim never heard from Mary again. Jim's nephew George Bradt said he heard Mary had moved to Boston. Jim has often wondered about Mary and son Danny. Charles was 8 years older than Jim. Sorry I can't help about your Vite mystery. The fact that Mary may have went to Boston may or may not be a clue.
would like to hear from you.
Feel free to e-mal me.
Sincerely, Becky

Hi Becky,

It has been nine years since I posted my inquiry. I hope I can reach you. Your husband's grandparents (Sam and Mary Vite) had four girls according to the 1920 census; Mae, Christina, Lena and Mary. My grandmother was Lena Vite. The 1930 census indicates only Mary. I don't know what happened with the other three girls; that is the mystery. My gmother used to state that she grew up in foster homes but she did not like to talk about her childhood. I speculate that Sam and Mary may have had to place the three oldest girls in a group home due to difficult economic circumstances but that's only a guess. Do you know the ethnic background of Sam and Mary?

Thanks.
